He Is My Song

By Carolyn Murset
2015

My style is folksy, rootsy, and mostly in the key of D-elightful. A while back, my parents came to visit me and my family, and just happened to be be in town while I performed at a local festival.  They hadn’t seen me sing and play my guitar for decades. (They lived a 12 hour drive away.) I sang a few of my original songs, and my Dad told me that “In Search of the Perfect Song” was his favorite song of mine.

I reworked that song, and it became a song about turning to the Lord Jesus Christ for inspiration and help. Hence, “He Is My Song” became the new focus of the song, and the theme of the other eleven songs on this album that I later wrote, rewrote, or arranged.

Some of my song ideas came from inspiring magazine articles and talks, or scripture. “A Sheltered Life” wrote itself after performing at a local homeless shelter with John Houston and his Gospel Choir.

I offer many thanks to my husband, who is often my roadie, and for his listening ears and fabulous documentation of so many of my public performances.
